Green Hills Women’s Shelter is happy to announce we were nominated by a local farmer, Annette Brown, for the America’s Farmers Grow Communities Grant.    The agency nomination was selected and awarded a grant in the amount of $2500.00.

The agency plans to use these funds to directly meet transportation needs of clients and their families.      Advocate’s share that many survivors face barriers with transportation and often do not have access to their own vehicle.      Client’s are often dependent on an available staff member or volunteer to get them around to appointments which may include medical appointments, job interviews, work shifts, grocery shopping, and other meetings around town.   The funds will be split between the two shelter locations in Cameron and Trenton and will be used specifically for purchasing taxi vouchers, OATS bus passes, and gas cards.   The program looks forward to continuing to eliminate barriers faced by the clients served and supported by Green Hills Women’s Shelter.

This project was made possible by a local farmer and America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund.   We appreciate the thoughtfulness and support from our community members, especially our local farmers!   Thank you Annette for honoring us with this gift!
