The Chillicothe Correctional Center’s Stand for the Silent Offender Organization provides financial blessing to program

Green Hills Women’s Shelter gives presentation to offenders at Chillicothe Correctional Center

Stand for the Silent Offender Organization

On August 22, 2017 Specialized Victim’s Advocate Glenda Ely, and Advocate Jenna Johnson of the Green
Hills Women’s Shelter gave an educational presentation to the incarcerated offenders of the Chillicothe
Correctional Center. This program informed the offenders of the stark realities of domestic and sexual abuse,
as well as the services that are provided by the shelter.  The advocates from the shelter also put on the “In Her
Shoe’s” workshop for the 18 members of the Stand for the Silent Offender Organization. The “surprise”
ending to the “open program” part of the visit brought tears to the eyes of the shelter and correctional staff,
as well as many in the offender population. This “surprise” ending included the gift of a $6000 donation to
the shelter by the Stand for the Silent Offender Organization. The entire production was planned, organized,
and made possible by the hard work and dedication of Institutional Activities Coordinator Shona Simpson.
