The Green Hills Women’s Shelter is happy to offer presentations to local groups, schools, churches, and organizations on a variety of domestic violence and sexual assault related topics, shelter programming, and volunteer opportunities that are available.
If you are interested in scheduling a presentation from us, please contact either one of the two shelters, and we will be happy to arrange something specific for you and your organization. We can provide topical presentations, discussions on our tax credits, building projects, and any domestic violence or sexual violence related topic. We often provide presentations on power and control, cycle of abuse, teen dating violence, how abuse affects children. We also offer two different simulations ‘In Her Shoes’ and ‘In Their Shoes’; more information on these is described below:
In Her Shoes
We now offer group presentations entitled ‘In Her Shoes’ a revolutionary community education tool, In Her Shoes is designed for learning about domestic violence. Participants move, do, think and experience the lives of battered women.
This version is the original simulation, which is great for educating a broad range of community and professional groups and can be facilitated in sessions of one to two hours. If you are interested in us coming to facilitate a simulation with your community group please contact either of our shelter sites, we would be happy to come into your work place, community group, church, or classroom to provide these priceless teaching opportunities.
We are also offering the classroom edition is designed to be used with teens – the original version is designed to be used with people who interact with teens (counselors, teachers, parents, etc.).
