We are seeking to fill a new position, Senior Advocate, that has been written in our new grant. The Senior Advocate will manage a specialized case load to include victims who are at high risk of returning to the abuser, have experienced physical harm from domestic violence incidences in the last 30 days, have been involved in multiple abusive relationships, have self-identified as struggling with substance use issues, or stating they are involved in self-harming, or destructive behaviors to cope with domestic violence relationships. The Senior Advocate will also provide assistance to the Executive program Director in supervising the Victim Advocates and PRN staff helping to ensure a consistent standard of care for victims being served. The Senior Advocate will work closely with the other advocates and victims to assure Crime Victims Compensation Program, the MOVANS system, and the Safe At Home Program are fully explained and accessible. This advocate will be based out of the Cameron Shelter Site but will travel between the two shelter sites to provide services to victims. This staffing change will allow victims to receive professional services and consistent care and help with the consistency of care as the Senior Advocate will meet bi-monthly with all advocates to staff cases and analyze and offer suggestions on services the victim might need. Rural Advocate / Education Specialist
The Rural Advocate / Education Specialist is a new position and will work within the 10 county service are to provide education and outreach to victims residing in Green Hills Women’s Shelter service are who do not have access to one of the shelter locations to receive services. The Rural Advocate / Education Specialist will partner with community agencies such as food pantries, health departments, social service agencies, rural health clinics, and other entities to be available at these various locations throughout the month. Victims can receive information on program services, cycle of domestic and sexual violence, or upon their request have in-person meetings with the advocate. The structure of this position will allow the advocate to travel to various counties within the service area, thus, helping alleviate the barrier of transportation or financial burden of victims traveling to the sehlter sites. This also allows victims the opportunity to receive information in a neutral setting they may already be accessing regularly, helping to eliminate suspicion from the abuser. Victims will have more access to education and supports prior to leaving a violent relationship. This position will provide case management, care planning, support groups, public education, and response to hotline callers. Trenton Weekend Advocate
A full time evening advocate position is available at our Trenton shelter location. This position is responsible for providing advocacy to domestic and sexual violence survivors in shelter as well as out of shelter. This position requires an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a social service related field including sociology, psychology, criminal justice, or other related fields. This position offers full time salary and benefits ranging from $15-18.50/hr Duties for this position include answering hotline calls, leading support groups, providing oversight to shelter safe house, leading support groups, cleaning and upkeep of facility, crisis intervention, case management, and other duties as assigned. This is a stay-in position arriving Fridays at 5pm and staying thru Monday morning at 8am. Applications will be accepted until filled. This is a position at our Cameron shelter location arriving for shift on Monday-Thursdays from 2pm-10:30pm Monday-Thursday and Fridays 12-5:30pm This position offers full time salary ranging from $15-18.50/hr Duties for this position include answering hotline calls, leading support groups, providing oversight to shelter safe house, leading support groups, cleaning and upkeep of facility, crisis intervention, case management, and other duties as assigned. Trenton & Cameron PRN (As Needed) Staff:
We need you! We are looking for qualified persons to join our GHWS family and offer your loving support to survivors we serve in our 10 county area. This position does not guarantee a specific amount of hours, but is on an as needed basis.
Our PRN positions are on an as needed basis to assist full time staff members with holiday time off, vacations, staff vacancies, and other holes in our schedules. The hours will not be consistent and will include nights, weekends, and holidays. The position is responsible for supervision of the shelter facility and clients, communication with on call staff members, accepting phone calls on a crisis hotline and business line, taking messages, completing paperwork, accepting and documenting donations, and providing a trauma centered environment for shelter residents and their children. This position can include short and longer weekend shifts that may involve overnight stays dependent on each applicants availability.
