Green Hills Women’s Shelter was awarded $40,816.32 in domestic violence tax credits for the period of July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017. As of February 22, 2017, donors have purchased $19,750 in Domestic Violence Shelter Tax Credits leaving $21066.32 in remaining tax credits to be purchased by June 30th.
Green Hills Women’s Shelter depends on the generosity of donations from private donors to provide support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their children. Survivors face many challenges when leaving an abusive situation and often have few financial resources to gain safety, stability, and self-sufficiency. Money that is donated to the program is used in many different ways to support the survivors. In the past, it has been used for payment of individual counseling sessions, rent, utility deposits, medication, children’s school activity fees, child care costs, automobile expenses, and various fees associated with obtaining birth certificates and other legal documents.
It can be a great financial benefit to individuals as well as the shelter program. Funds collected can make the difference in the life of a survivor of domestic and sexual violence and also demonstrates to the Missouri Department of Social Services that individuals are interested in support the program. We appreciate your consideration of support. Please contact us with any questions you may have regarding the program.
Donations of over $100.00 may be eligible for the Domestic Violence Shelter Tax Credit. This means you may receive a tax credit for up to 50% of your contribution.
